Tutorial: Using Variant SKUs to Keep Track of Costs in SellerVue

Managing costs for different product variants can be challenging, but with SellerVue's variant SKU feature, you can streamline this process and stay organized. This tutorial will guide you through adding variants to your products and tracking their costs effectively.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Understand the Need for Variants

Many sellers deal with multiple variants of a single product. For example, if you order 1,000 units of silicone baking cups, they might come in different colors such as red, blue, pink, and orange. Initially, these units might be grouped together under one SKU in your inventory. However, tracking costs by specific variant can provide better insights and accuracy.

Step 2: Adding Variables to Your Account

1. **Navigate to Your Catalog Page:**

- Log in to your SellerVue account.

- Go to the catalog page where your products are listed.

2. **Select the Product to Add Variants:**

- Choose the product for which you want to add variants.

3. **Add Variants:**

- Click on the option to add variants to the selected product.

- Enter the details for each variant. In this case, we will add two variants for example:

- Green variant

- Orange variant

Step 3: Assigning Costs to Variants

When you add variants, they inherit the root cost of the parent product. For instance, if the root cost of $3.19, both the green and orange variants will automatically take on this cost.

1. Check the Variants in the Catalog:

- Return to your catalog page.

- You should now see the green and orange variants listed under the parent or root product

- Both variants will display the root cost of $3.19.

Step 4: Syncing with A2X and Google Sheets

To ensure that your cost data is always up-to-date, SellerVue automatically syncs with A2X and Google Sheets.

1. **Automatic Sync:**

- Your variant costs are automatically synced to your Google Sheet every night.

- This means that you don't have to manually comb through your costs to see what's missing.

2. **Verify in A2X:**

- When A2X picks up your costs, it will already include the variant SKUs with the correct costs.

- You can see the variants with their assigned costs in your A2X account, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.

Step 5: Using or Not Using Variants

- For Products with Variants:

- If your products come in different variants (like different colors or sizes), adding variants in SellerVue will help you keep track of costs more accurately.

- For Products Without Variants:

- If each product has its own unique SKU without any variants, you don't need to use this feature. Each SKU will have its own cost, and no further action is required.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage and track the costs of product variants in SellerVue, saving time and improving accuracy in your inventory management.
